Local gems
In Maleksa, you are surrounded by hazelnut trees. This is because 75 percent of the world`s hazelnut harvest is produced in this region. The region is also famous for its anchovies and teas. But there are many more local gems. This page will be dedicated to local practices from farmers, artisans, and shops that promote sustainable living.
Yoghurt from Cows
The villagers of Maleksa have cows to produce, among other things, home-made yoghurt. Making yoghurt is a three-step process, first you heat the milk to sterilize it from pathogens. Then you let it cool in a nice jar to 40 degrees C and add a spoon of yoghurt to it. The last step is a 12-hour incubation
Seeds from Generations
Every year, after the summer harvest, organic beans that are grown from seeds that are passed on from season to season, from generation to generation, are passed down from household to household.
Fields of Hazelnut
Most hazelnuts in the world are ground in turkey and the black sea region. Harvesting hazelnut yields no longer a solid source of income but nonetheless the orchards are maintained as a local pride
